Kannauj: Residents and shopkeepers in the Sarai Meera area near the bus stand, in front of the post office in Kannauj, are facing serious problems due to the poor cleaning of drains by the local municipal authorities.
According to locals, the Kannauj Nagar Palika has not been cleaning the drains (naali/gutters) regularly. As a result, during the rainy season the drains become completely blocked. Dirty water then overflows onto the roads and often enters nearby shops, creating major inconvenience for shopkeepers and residents.
Local shopkeepers say that they have raised complaints multiple times, but the issue has still not been resolved permanently. The stagnant dirty water also creates foul smell and unhygienic conditions in the area, increasing the risk of diseases.
Residents have urged the municipal authorities to take immediate action, clean the drains properly, and ensure regular maintenance so that such problems do not occur during the rainy season.
