New Delhi – IndiGo has announced a major relief measure for passengers who suffered long delays and cancellations earlier this month. The airline said on Thursday (December 11, 2025) that customers who faced severe disruption between December 3 and 5 will receive ₹10,000 worth of travel vouchers.
The airline admitted that many travellers were stuck for hours at overcrowded airports during those days due to unexpected operational issues. “A number of our customers experienced serious inconvenience. For them, we are issuing ₹10,000 travel vouchers that can be used for any IndiGo flight within the next 12 months,” the company said.
DGCA compensation will still be provided
IndiGo also clarified that this special voucher is not replacing the government-mandated compensation. As per DGCA rules, if a flight is cancelled less than 24 hours before departure, passengers must receive ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 depending on the block time of the flight (the total gate-to-gate duration).
This means travellers affected during these dates will get:
- DGCA compensation: ₹5,000–₹10,000
- IndiGo’s goodwill voucher: ₹10,000
So, many passengers may receive up to ₹20,000 in total benefits.
Regulatory pressure continues
India’s largest airline is also under scrutiny from aviation authorities. Regulators have ordered IndiGo to cut its winter schedule by 10% to stabilise operations. Before the disruptions began on December 2, the airline was running nearly 2,300 flights every day.
