We fought for freedom in 1947, but even in 2025 we are still fighting this time, for the right to live with dignity in our own homes,” said one resident during the protest.
Yogesh Kumar/Gurugram: While the country celebrated Independence Day, hundreds of families in Sector 37’s Signature Global Park staged a protest not against the government, but against their own builder.

Residents say they have paid crores of rupees for their homes, yet they are still forced to live without basic facilities and even lack a proper road to reach their apartments.
According to them, the builder had promised connectivity through a 24-metre-wide road. However, around 1,300 residents still have no proper entry route to their homes. This causes daily problems, especially for school-going children who struggle to commute.

The residents also allege poor construction quality and the absence of basic safety measures, including those for women. “The country is free, but we are still living like slaves. We want freedom from the builder’s exploitation,” one protester said.

On Independence Day, residents held banners, raised slogans, and demanded that the builder immediately provide them with proper access and all promised amenities.
They have also urged the local administration to take strict action against the builder and ensure they receive their rightful facilities. Now, all eyes are on the authorities to see whether they will step in and resolve the matter.
